You may or may not have heard about Conception for PSP. It was a game published by Atlus that was only released in Japan a while ago, and now we are getting the sequel to that game here in North America. Look forward to more crazy JRPG fun for Vita and 3DS!
First off, don’t worry so much about the story:
While the game is a sequel to a PSP RPG only released in Japan, Conception II is a standalone story. -siliconera.com
This statement was a relief to hear. I hate missing out on story that I’m expected to know, especially when a new series comes over from Japan with obvious plot holes.
Not knowing much about the first Conception game on PSP, this might be hard to get excited for, but the fact that it brings yet another interesting RPG over to not just NA but to the Vita and the 3DS is a great thing. While I still feel that the 3DS is no match for the PS Vita in terms of graphics, the second screen could add an extra dimension to the game giving either version a slight edge.
Conception II combines elements of dungeon crawling with a turn-based battle system to create a game that is said to be 10 times the size of its predecessor. As you can see in the video it even has the added element of having a dating sim-like relationship with the seven women. Your party consists of the main character and two others (from the seven women) with added chibi characters that it seems like you create similar to Etrian Odyessy. It looks like it could get very interesting and fun quickly and I love the character designs.
Conception II will be available for PS Vita and 3DS in North America on April 8th 2014 for 39.99 on both platforms.
Update: There has been a collector’s edition annouced for Conception 2. It will be available to both the Vita and 3DS and comes with a 10 song soundtrack and special packaging. It is $40 as well so it can be assumed that this is a free upgrade while supplies last.
