The highly anticipated Bungie title, Destiny, finally gets a release date! I’m not sure about you guys, but I’m a bit bummed that we have to wait so long for this game to get here.

Today, in partnership with Activision, we are proud to announce that the worldwide launch of Destiny will happen on September 9th. Accordingly, the Destiny Beta will kick off in the summer of 2014, available first on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

According to Bungie’s website, Destiny will be releasing worldwide on September 9, 2014. The PlayStation 3 and 4 versions will get a pre-launch beta shortly prior to launch.

How does this news make you feel? Are you going to go out and preorder Destiny? Which versions are you looking forward to?

Nia has been gaming for about as long as she could hold a controller. Growing up with experiences like Super Mario Bros 1 – 3, The Legend of Zelda, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Streets of Rage, she was bound to blossom into the lovely specimen you see before you. She loves the classics but will play anything that requires buttons, a d-pad, or analog sticks. She hopes to one day leave her mark on the gaming industry as it has helped impact the person she is today.
  • Sony is starting to get some big name titles first? They are looking good in the public eye once again lol

    • Seriously lol. Idk what Microsoft is gonna do this generation with exclusivity deals now that they don’t have the same advantage they used to. I guess they could still throw around that money.

  • I’m really surprised, I thought this would definitely come out sometime in the spring, maybe around April. It sounded like that’s where it was heading. I guess the good news is that now they have more time to work on it so hopefully less problems at launch. Although I guess it’s also fitting in a way considering that some of Bungies biggest games (Halo 3 and Reach) also launched in September.

@Nia, as far as what Microsoft is going to do this gen, that’s entirely up to them. They have exclusive deals with some of the other multiplatform titles, and they do have some pretty big name exclusives coming up next year. I think they’re pretty safe until early Summer hits. At that point they should use E3 to show off some new big name titles. That’s all they really need to do at this point, have enough games to warrant their system being worthy enough to purchase.

  • Hell yes, at least it has a release date at all. I’m not bummed about this at all besides the fact that it’ll be right in the beginning of a new semester… XD other than that, I have so much to catch up on and I can save the money for it while I’m at it. It already looks amazing so I cannot wait for any and all improvements that they make for it. Here’s to more news about it throughout the new year!

  • Can’t wait to check this game out! But yeah I was surprised with this date as well…was thinking this was going to be a summer game! maybe its for the best…so its done right! 🙂

  • I seriously can’t want for this game, soo happy i stuck with the ps4 vs xbox1, Just wish there was more time in a day -_-.

  • I’m hype for this game! It’s gonna look amazing on ps4

    • I preordered it MONTHS ago for PS3. By the time it comes out, I’ll have a PS4 lol. I’ll likely swtich my preorder too.
