Gear heads, rejoice! We received a nice little update on Gears of War 4 today.  It feels like it’s been a while since we’ve learned something so worth wile but thanks to Game Informer, we’ve been informed of what’s going on behind the scenes in the development of the highly anticipated Xbox One exclusive, Gears of War 4.

In this video preview, we hear Rod Ferguson and members of The Coalition team expressing that they “have the same energy as Epic had back in Gears 1” and Ferguson went on to say he feels “really good” about where they are with the game. We also learn some big exciting news as to whom the next protagonist will be! Actor Liam McIntyre (Spartacus, The Flash) revealed that he will be playing as “a war hero’s son,” JD Fenix. This of course is Marcus Fenix’s son!

When Gears of War 4 was first announced, the first question I had come to mind was “will Marcus return?” since he has been the biggest role in the series thus far and because I’m such a big fan of his character. Even though this Game Informer exclusive update confirms Marcus won’t be the leading role in Gears of War 4, his son becoming the new protagonist comes to me as the next best thing! I couldn’t think of a more enticing way to continue the story.

Kudos to The Coalition for making this new installment already feel close to home. I love how the new protagonist has a direct connection to Marcus and I can’t help but wonder if Anya could be connected as well. That blonde hair JD has definitely makes me think it’s possible! All of this makes my anticipation grow even more and I’m really looking forward to learning more about Gears of War 4, due out later this year.

What do you think of the latest news to come from The Coalition regarding Gears of War 4? Are you looking forward to its release? Let us know!
