Here we are, embarking on a new year in gaming and 2016 is really shaping up to be a good one. No matter what platform you game on, there are games for everyone this year and chances are you are looking sideways at your wallet wondering how to get the extra cash for all of the games coming out. As the new year begins, it is that special time when gamers look ahead to all the games slated to come out for the year and start to plan which ones will get our attention. You don’t have to ask me twice. My list for single-player games is a bit long so I decided to focus my attention on my top 5 most anticipated multiplayer games for 2016. So, let’s do this!
It goes without saying that the Uncharted series is mainly about the single-player and don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for the story in Uncharted 4 but I’m also really excited for its multiplayer. Because I played Uncharted 2 and 3 later than most, I wasn’t around for when the multiplayer was fresh and the lobbies were heavily populated in those games. I feel like I missed out in that “day one” experience that others had so the opportunity to have it now with Uncharted 4 has me extra hyped. Also, I had a lot of fun playing the beta last year. I was a little skeptical going in because of the new added features such as mystics and sidekicks but after playing it for a while, my fears were quickly diminished and I was on board for this game. Being somewhat new to the series, I could already sense that the more I played, the better I was getting and I can’t wait to continue that when the full game releases. Between the weapons, movement, and constant action, the multiplayer for Uncharted 4 is shaping up to be something great and I can’t wait to have a go-to shooter back in my playlist.
There is no confirmed release date for For Honor but it is slated to come out this year. So far, fan response has been a little quiet and it seems like a lot of people are sleeping on this game. Maybe it’s because it’s Ubisoft and gamers tend to be a little skeptical towards that developer and it could also be because we haven’t seen much footage. The reason I’m so vocal about this game was because I was able to get my hands on it at Playstation Experience last month. I regarded it as my “Best of Floor,” because it was the funnest experience I had that weekend. For Honor is a third-person melee with strategic combat that requires a lot of teamwork. During our 4v4 session, I was able to play with 3 friends and we all had a blast. For Honor is definitely a game to look out for and I highly encourage everyone reading to add it to your radar.
Gears of War 4
As a long time Gears of War fan, it’s mandatory I have Gears of War 4 in my list. Although I am looking forward to seeing how the Gears of War story evolves and how the new characters are introduced, I am definitely more interested in its multiplayer. The multiplayer has always given me a reason to come back and put even more hours into a Gears of War game. I am really curious how the multiplayer is going to feel in Gears of War 4. I’m hoping it stays furthest away from Gears of War: Judgment as possible and gets back to its roots, in all aspects. From the single-player to the multiplayer, I want Gears of War 4 to feel like Gears; gritty, dark, and bare-boned. I am definitely curious for what is next in the Gears of War universe. Don’t forget, a Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta is coming this spring too!
Drawn To Death
I have been interested in Drawn To Death since I first saw it revealed. The concept is really cool and I know the game is in good hands with David Jaffe and Sony San Diego behind it. I have been able to speak with David a couple times at last years E3 as well as the Playstation Experience and he is motivated and passionate about this game. That alone has me motivated to play Drawn To Death and not to mention; the gameplay is pretty good too. I have been able to get my hands on this game multiple times and have enjoyed my experience so far. Sure, it isn’t your AAA-budget-knock-your-socks-off multiplayer but it is a fun unique game and don’t forget: free to play! Can’t ask for more than that. I am keeping a close eye on Drawn to Death and wish our friends at Sony San Diego the best of luck!
Last but not least, Cuphead is one of my most anticipated multiplayer games. Maybe it’s because Bloodborne and Dark Souls 2 got me remembering what it’s like to actually play hard and challenging games, but I really want to play Cuphead. My husband and I had the opportunity to play co-op for Cuphead at last years E3 and spent the entire time dying left and right. It had us laughing and made us want to play more. The art design alone is so unique and different than any game I’ve ever played before. The old school style of cartoon graphics in Cuphead are gorgeous to look at and it really adds to the fun of playing. Since I’m a big fan of classic side scrolling shoot em up’s like Contra and Sunset Riders, it’s no wonder Cuphead is right up my alley. I am definitely buying this game day one for my Xbox One.
So there you have it. 5 multiplayer games to look forward to this year! Of course, there are more but these 5 are steady on my radar and have been for some time now. I can’t wait to see how this year comes to be in gaming and what other surprises we are in store for. I’m sure there are killer games that haven’t been announced yet and time will tell just how much better this year can get. Stay tuned for first impressions and news about these games here at SheAttack.com!
