Scalebound Has Officially Been Cancelled

After many rumors and speculation that the development process was in “trouble,” Microsoft has now confirmed that Scalebound is cancelled.

From the official Scalebound twitter:

Windowscentral goes on to say that Microsoft and Platinum Games have “parted ways” and according to Microsoft, it was a “business decision.” This does not come as a complete surprise since for the past few weeks, there had been rumors of the game’s engine causing issues as well as the team having trouble making development deadlines. There were also red flags such as the public not seeing any new gameplay footage since Gamescom in August of last year.

Now, all the rumors can be put to rest. Scalebound is officially cancelled.

This comes as very disappointing news for gamers, myself included. This was one of my most anticipated games for the Xbox One. There is always that outside chance that Scalebound can someday be resurrected but we definitely won’t be seeing it anytime soon. It’s a real shame too because it was looking very promising in terms of gameplay, fun, and online co-op experience. Now we will never know what could have been.
