Star Trek 1979 Film Gets 4K Remaster with Paramount + Exclusivity
Star Trek: The Photo film, the feature film created in 1979, gets a suitable 4K remill, but you will need a specific continuous broadcast service subscription to watch it (initially at least). The restoration will involve the Star Trek: the edition of the film director’s film and will take at least half a year to complete.
The decision to remill the classical science fiction was announced on the official website of Star Trek today, although details are brief. According to the alert, the restoration project was Greenlit by Paramount, which will get an “exclusive window” for its Streaming Paramount + service.
This means that at least initially, the remastered version of Star Trek: The animated photo will only be available to watch Paramount +. It’s hard to know how much paramount + time will be exclusive about the project before arriving through other distributors. It seems likely that the remake will be made available on Blu-ray at a given moment.
Although streaming is the most convenient way to watch movies, it’s not ideal for getting the best quality. A Blu-ray version would give fans the best experience, which would allow them to take full advantage of the Ultra HD 4K resolution. The remill will include the Dolby Vision HDR support and an original Dolby Atmos band.
According to the company, it is estimated that the restoration project will take between six and eight months to complete. It is unclear when the project starts and how long after the completion of the remastered version of Star Trek: the motion image will hit Paramount +.
