The judge rejected the Challenge of the Amazon Law to Jedi after the contract cancellation
After almost two years, Amazon’s general legal dispute with the US government for the decision of the Pentagon to provide a Microsoft cloud contract of $ 10 billion in 2019 ended. According to Reuters, a federal judge rejected the challenge on Friday without objections from the company. The dismissal followed the announcement Tuesday that the Department of Defense had canceled Jedi, a program at the center of the legal battle, to pursue a new multi-vendor project that will see the contract given by Amazon and Microsoft.
“We understand and agree with DOD’s decision,” Amazon spokesman told Engadget after the announcement. “Unfortunately, contract awards are not based on the benefits of proposals and vice versa is the result of external influences that have no place in government procurement..”
When Amazon first challenged the handling of the Department of Defense’s Jedi, the alleged Pentagon had shown “no wrong bias” in the evaluation process. The company accused former President Donald Trump incorrectly suppressed the agency to give a contract to Microsoft because of his dislike of Jeff Bezos and Washington Post. In 2020, Pentagon’s Inspector General released a report that said there was no evidence that Trump’s administration had disrupted the procurement process but was recorded at the same time that some White House officials had not worked with the probe.
