Clubhouse will be an exclusive hosting TED chat
Last year and half have seen many in-people canceled, postponed, or moved online. Some organizations have even found themselves to expand new venues and media. Ted, famous for its inspiring talks and opening of the mind, has long provided videos from conferences around the world. Earlier this year, he began a new audio-only format and now partnered with the only hottest audio social network to bring the Clubhouse chat.
There has been a revival of popularity in the only audio-media such as podcasts recently, perhaps in response to flood streaming video and video conferencing that has occurred in recent years. Spotify, Apple, and even Facebook now compete to be the next podcast house, but Clubhouse and Ted take a slightly different approach to the only audio media space.
Ted has launched a collective audio podcast last year, but, like any podcast, most of the roads are one direction. Of course, listeners can send questions or feedback, but there is no direct interaction with listeners unless the host makes a direct call. It was something Clubhouse had proven great, and brought the T & A format to Ted listeners.
According to the threshold, the exclusive partnership between the two involved Ted has the freedom to sell ads or brand partnerships without Clubhouse taking any pieces. It was rather unusual for such an agreement, but the Clubhouse might be after the positive press of this exposure would bring. The first Ted Clubhouse room will be hosted on July 12 at 11am ET, and the next chat will take place every Monday after.
This is an interesting new place for young clubhouses and may be proof of its own brand power to pocket a deal with Ted. It will not be alone in that space, however, with Apple, Spotify, Facebook and Twitter all offer their own audio-only space. This will be a race to register for big names for this network, potentially making it the next big social media battle.
