How to use the power of music to help you reduce stress
It’s no secret that there are many different benefits to music. Almost every different situation is made better by music, from working out at the gym to helping you relax. These days we tend to live fairly stressful lives and it is important that every now and then we take a break to unwind and relax.
Now that is certainly easier said than done. But through the power or music, you can slowly start to unwind and relax. You just have to find the right type of music! Different types of music can be used in different situations to help you through the day. You wouldn’t have dance music playing right before you go to bed!
Have a read below at all the different ways to use the power of music to help you reduce stress:
Waking Up/ Morning Time
Let’s start at the beginning. Waking up and getting ready in the morning certainly isn’t a lot of people’s favourite thing to do, especially if you have to go to work or school. But make sure you wake up on the right side of the bed by getting that music pumping!
For the best benefits it is recommended you listen to classical music as it will keep you focused. Those with big days ahead can opt for something more cheerful to get you moving and excited for the day ahead. The right type of music in the morning can get you in the right frame of mind to tackle whatever the day throws at you.
While commuting
Whether you are driving yourself someone or taking public transport music can make the time fly by. If you are driving, then say goodbye to road rage! Music helps to release the tension when driving, which can be a lot especially if you are stuck in peak hour traffic.
Music when driving can also help you focus as you aren’t thinking about all the things you have to do in the day. If you are catching public transport, then music works well to block out the outside world. It also helps to make the trip go faster.
Cleaning
Not many people like to clean, it can seem like a never ending process. But with music, it can make the time go faster as well as ensure your home is nice and organised (that in itself can help to reduce stress). Music can raise your energy levels and get the job done in record time, whether it be washing the dishes or cleaning the bathroom.
Cooking
These days more and more people are opting to eat out – that isn’t good for your waistline or your wallet! Cooking at home can actually be fun, especially if there is music involved. There are lots of nutritious meals you can make at home to help keep you healthy. Get some upbeat music play to get you happy and in the mood for some food.
Before sleeping
We all know just how important getting enough sleep is each night. When you are tired during the day it can make you more irritable and it isn’t good for your health. Before going to sleep it can be a good idea to listen to some nice music.
This will help you de-stress and unwind as to get ready for sleeping. Anyone who has ever been stressed and tried to sleep will know just how hard it actually is. So, listening to some music can help you have a better quality night’s sleep, ensuring you feel refreshed in the morning.
