T-Mobile Home Run Derby uses a 5G camera to power the MLB AR experience
Baseball fans have the opportunity to experience the game in a completely new way with a new project between T-Mobile and Main League Baseball. Called T-Mobile Home Run Derby, the new initiative uses a 5G connected camera installed on a catcher mask and a player cap to produce augmented reality experience for fans, available through the new MLB AR application.
The MLB AR application is made by the Baseball and T-Mobile Premier League, which will allow all baseball fans to see the coors field in 3D. The augmented reality experience will include details that you don’t get at home, such as the option to track the ball path, see the speed out, project time hangs, and more.
The most interesting part of the effort is the appearance of the first person’s camera to be available during the Home Run Derby T-Mobile. This unique perspective will be available during the practice of batting and actual events, marking the first time the camera that can be used 5G has been used during this kind of sporting event.
The 5G T-Mobile network will be used to send HD content in real-time, according to the operator, which records that Home Run Derby will be available at ESPN at 8pm ET on July 12. While all fans can see their fields in 3D, certain things will be limited to customers’ 5G T-Mobile devices, including bonus statistics.
The experience of AR, T-Mobile said that fans also had the opportunity to win $ 100,000 by sending their predictions for game day events: which got the longest home run, winner as a whole, and similar things. The challenge of the MLB bracket runs today, allowing fans to send their predictions until the match time starts on July 12.
