Universal films will make their TV debut in Peacock
Starting from 2022, Universal films will be available in Peacock first instead of HBO. That means the next Jurassic world and the new Halloween film will make their TV debut on streaming services also owned by the Comcast’s parent company. According to varieties and Wall Street Journal, universal films will appear exclusively on Peacock to stream within four months after the release of their theater, and in the last four months of the 18-month window.
10 months including, films will be licensed about two to three additional partners, although none of them will have exclusive rights for films. Universal has not released a list of additional partners, and is not clear whether HBO is one of them. Varieties say that by adopting a segmented TV release schedule, Universal hopes to avoid excessive saturation or make the films look stale. In addition, the streaming platform seems to be willing to pay the top dollars for popular films today in prominent efforts from the number of rivals which continue to increase out there.
Whether this step leads to the urge in the customer number for the remnants of Peacock still have to be seen. Comcast Make streaming services available for more potential viewers only a month ago by releasing applications for Amazon Fire TV and Tablets and Samsung Smart TV. Peacock also fostered its recent sports portfolio and announced that streaming 44 league Premier Lacrosse matches for the season which began on June 4.
